CEINPET was created in 1996. It is subordinate to Unión CUBAPETROLEO (CUPET) under the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM).
It executes R&D projects, scientific-technical services, and specialized productions focused on the development of the Cuban oil industry and related sectors.
